The ones who didn't grew up here are usually controlling because it's part of the culture for the men to be dominating. However African men are known to be very generous and take good care of their women and family. Haitian men, at least the ones I know tend to cheat a lot.

All my Haitian girlfriends say the same thing, they're not faithful. As an African woman, who grew up here I've always been proud of my heritage just like the incog above. Sometimes people are surprised to hear I am, it's like they want every African to be dark and hungry looking. I tell them where I was born is just like New York city and we come in many shades and colors. I've had a lot of ignorant folk ask if I had a giraffe or monkey as a pet growing up and I'm quick to tell them that's stupid and untrue.
